Dental cleaning, also known as scaling and polishing, is a routine procedure recommended to be performed every 6 months. It involves the removal of tartar and bacterial plaque from the tooth surfaces and roots using a device called a cavitron, followed by the removal of stains using polishing cups and polishing brushes. It is preferable to have two sessions spaced three days apart for optimal results, but if time is limited for the patient, the procedure can be completed in a single session.
